FAQ

How do you pronounce Luggie?

We get this question a lot! Luggie comes from the word "luggage" since it easily folds up like luggage. It's also pronounced the same. Hope that helps!

Is the Luggie airline safe?

Yes! Most of our customers buy the Luggie to travel and take with them on an airplane (as well as cruise ships and trains) to some fun far off destination.

Is the Luggie easy to get in and out of the car?

Yes. Most of our customers find no problems doing this. They enjoy taking the scooter with them wherever they go. We do recommend to many of our customers that if they find it difficult to lift the 58 lb Luggie up into the trunk of their car, they should instead put it into the front or back seat. This can be easily done by putting it in and lifting one half of the scooter at a time.

Is the Luggie easy to fold?

Yes. It is simple to fold the Luggie. This can be done without tools nice and easy in only a couple minutes.

Can the tiller or handlebar on the Luggie be adjusted forward or back?

Yes, the tiller can adjusted easily to move closer or farther from your seated position. The handlebar can also be lowered so you can easily remain seated and pull up to a table.

Will Medicare cover the Luggie?

No. Unfortunately the Luggie is not a Medicare approved mobility device.

Will my private insurance cover the Luggie?

Maybe. It depends on your insurance. Many of our customers are able to submit an invoice which we provide to them and in turn get reimbursement from their insurance companies. However, the majority of our customers pay out of pocket.

Is it sturdy?

Yes! Despite it's compact size and light weight, the Luggie is surprisingly rugged and sturdy. Our customers often comment to us on this right after seeing it for the first time.

What is the weight capacity?

It depends on the model. The Standard and Classic are 250 Lbs and the Elite is 320 Lbs.

Where is it built?

The Luggie is manufactured in Taiwan. This is key. Most electric scooters and mobility scooters are made in China. However, the craftsmanship and engineering that comes out of Taiwan is worlds above what comes out of China. There are of course always exceptions, but 9 times out of 10 in our experience a Taiwanese product is superior to that of a Chinese.

How long will it take to ship?

We usually ship the same day we receive an order. If you place an order before 1pm PST, we will ship that same day. If your order is placed after that, it will ship out first thing the next morning.

How long will the battery last?

The battery should last 2-3 years.

Are the tires flat free?

Yes, the tires are flat free so you never have to worry about a flat tire. The tires are made of a high quality flat free solid rubber.

Do I need the In Home Docking Station?

No, you do not need one. You can charge your Luggie with the 5 amp charger that comes with the scooter. However, many of our customers find the In Home Docking Station extremely convenient and often thank us for recommending it to them. The In Home Docking Station allows you to simply pop the battery out of the scooter and then charge the battery independently of the scooter. This way you can leave your Luggie in your car and just take the 4 lb battery inside to charge!

How long will it take to be delivered?

Our Luggies ship from our CA warehouse, so depending on where you live, your Luggie will generally take 2-5 business days. If you need your Luggie in a hurry, just call us toll free at 1-866-217-1757 and we can have it expedited to you for an additional charge.
